Project Lifesaver is brand new to our area. A braclet with a tracking device is placed on a disabled person who is likely to wonder off......then when the person wanders or darts off, 911 is called and they send a team who is trained to track the signals from the wristband. The braclets are waterproof.....the person have have it on when taking baths and swimming and it doesn't harm it. The signal this braclet gives off can be track for up to a mile in any direction including up and there is usually a rescue within a 1/2 hour. As of yet, they have never had a death or serious injury to report and the team who tracks the person is specially trained to deal with people with various special needs. Autism, demetia, Alhiemers, and ect.......it's for all who tend those with disabilities in which they are likely to wonder off. It only takes a split second for the child to dart off or seconds to walk away unseen.
It costs $300 for the first year which includes everything that is needed for the bracket to work.......including the batteries. Then if continued to the following years it will cost $105 per year.
If Project Lifesaver is not currently available in your area, it can be brought in........it just takes funding and people who care enough to get involved and speak to places who may be willing to support and help fund the program. Check it out, simply type Project Lifesaver in your search engine and you will find it and they do have links on the sites to sign up for it.
